The Ironside Merino wool we use is 35% better at wicking sweat when compared to polyester socks, which is what most “sweat wicking” brands use. Our high density knit will keep your feet from sweating in your boots.

Materials & Care

53% Merino wool, 38% nylon, 9% spandex.

Why not 100% Merino wool? We actually use a 90% wool blend for the majority of our sock. But we use a nylon reinforcement on the heel and toe for greater abrasion resistance and durability. Plus, we use additional Spandex in the shaft of the sock for compression (and to help our socks stay up for 14 hours straight).

So in the parts that really matter for sweat wicking and comfort (the shaft, the top of the foot, and the ankle) our socks are 89% wool. But at the heel and toe where your boots make the most impact on your socks, there's a much higher % of nylon so you don't get holes.

That's why we can offer a 10-year durability guarantee that a lot of people think is crazy.

Machine wash in warm water on gentle cycle with socks inside-out. Do not bleach. Tumble dry on low or hang dry. Do not dry clean.

Cushion Details

Heavy cushion in the toe and heel for steel toe boot comfort.
Full cushion through the calf, specifically designed for all day comfort with 6, 8, and 10 inch boots.

Much appreciated gift

Purchased for an industrial electrician on his feet 10-12 hours, and having skin issues on his feet due to wetness. The quality, fit, and quick shipping were very much appreciated. He tells me the socks are performing very well, his feet are much better, and he feels very comfortable. This is his first try at laundering wool, so I'm waiting for those results, but I have ordered him more pairs for work. He wears steel toe boots and tends to wear out the toes - will update the review on the wearability. Thanks for a great workman's product.

I have told many coworkers and friends about these socks. Their first concern since they are made of wool is if it’s itchy. They are Not itchy. Most wool coats we wear can be scratchy or itchy but I do not find these either of them. I’ve had them for about 3 months now and wear them for my 10 hour work shifts in safety toe boots. They are amazing. Absolutely love them. I bought several pairs. They are a bit on the expensive side compared to cheaper socks but you’ll find you will never go back to the old pairs. Once you switch you’ll love it and want to tell others about it.
